Tomato rice
 
400 gms basmati rice
100 gms onion (thinly sliced)
500 ml water
salt to taste
1 tsp. red chilli powder
1 tsp. garam masala powder
300 gms tomtoes (chopped)
1 tsp. cumin seeds
1 tbsp. oil
1. Heat oil in a 2 litre deep dish on 100% power for 1:30 minutes. Add the cumin seeds and microwave 0n 100% power for 30 seconds.
2. Add the sliced onions and microwave 0n 100% power for 5 minutes. Stir once during cooking.
3. Add the tomatoes, salt, red chilli powder and garam maslala powder. Mix and microwave on 100% power for 2 minutes.
4. Finally add the rice and water. Mix well and cook partially covered (with a cling film/ lid) on 100% power for 12-14 minutes. Stir once during cooking.
5. Mix and allow to stand, covered with a foil for 10 minutes before serving.
6. Garnish with currants or raisins, if desired.
7. Serve with "Raita" & Papadam.
